Hospital based bioethics. A european perspective

Renzo Pegoraro, Giovanni Putoto, Emma Wray

The book is intended to provide a framework that can be used as a starting point for those interested in teaching or learning about bioethics. Although the resource can be read from cover to cover as a whole, each chapter is presented as a stand-alone unit that is laid out in a similar format, with the following headings:•chapter title,•learning objectives,•key concepts,•case studies,•main text,•discussion questions,•references / further reading. The purpose of this is to provide some possible approaches and stimulate further debate rather than to provide a fully comprehensive resource, which would require a much larger volume than intended by this project.

What we do ? Biological and medical research and developments in technology have produced spectacular advances in the health field. However, these advances raise ethical issues that affect the individual and protection of the individual’s rights and dignity (genetics, transplantation, biobanks, emerging technologies, etc).
